Historic Preservation

Across East Tennessee, there are many buildings, structures, sites and districts of historic and cultural significance. Through a technical assistance contract with the Tennessee Historical Commission (THC), ETDD provides historic preservation services to local governments in our region, formulating solutions for individual historic resources and contributing to larger preservation planning and economic development initiatives. ETDD is primarily involved with federal preservation grant applications, nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, assistance under the Certified Local Government program, and completion of Section 106 reviews required under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
